A Porteur conversion rack for the Nitto M12. This is being built by Alistair Spence for my Kogswell P/R. I'm helping with a little of the brazing and we worked together on the design.

AlexAndChristine > Alistair filed away these areas to fit the tubing which will support the Porteur rack. The tubing will sit flush with the top of the rack so that it can still be used as a handlebar bag support.

AlexAndChristine > The rack is almost done. It still needs a lot of cleanup work, a backstop, and a rear set of stays.
AlexAndChristine > This is how the base rack looks naked. It's a stock Nitto M12 with three rings for supporting the Porteur rack. It'll still function well as a handlebar bag rack.
AlexAndChristine > Base rack plus porteur rack from the side. There will be another set of stays from the rear corners of the Porteur rack going down towards the dropouts.

Alistair said that it was a lot of work to get these properly aligned. The clearances between the spigots and sleeves are minimal (necessary to keep the porteur rack from moving around).

The spigots extend a little bit so that we can thread them for wingnuts if necessary. Right now it looks like the two bolts at the dropouts will be enough to properly secure it.
AlexAndChristine > One of my (Alex's) brazes. I probably got the metal a little too hot, so the brass wandered. It'll take a bit of cleanup work.
AlexAndChristine > Another one of my brazes, this one is a lot cleaner and shouldn't require much cleanup.
