The switch mount is 1/32" plate which is brazed into the tube.  I put a small tab on the end of the plate and cut a notch in the tube using a dremel cutoff wheel.  No jigging required.
Another reason for removing this early light mount is that it mounted the light too close to the tire. I thought narrow would be good for the bus rack, but it turned out not to be an issue. They design it the rack around very wide suspension forks.
